The American Champion title is awarded to the Dobermann that has 3 CAC certificates with one year one day of distance between the first and third CAC. Other minimum requirements for this title are the BH, and a hips certification score of HD1 or HD2.

CAC certificates are awarded to the best black and red males, and best black and red females, according to the judge's evaluation. The CAC can be won in open class, working class, and champion class, according to the judge's discretion.

For the homologation of the championship title copies of all the requirements need to be sent to the ADA office.
